Service and Beyond!
One of the things that makes
HELP@HAND® different from everyone else is the way we work. We don't ask you to bring your
Computer problems to us, We go to YOU. With most Computer business's, if you want to avail of their services, you have to work it
their way, bring the computer to them to repair. This isn't always as easy as it sounds.
First you have to arrange a time to bring it into them, then you have to take everything apart,
bundle it into the car ...or worse, have to carry it on the bus. Then you have to battle your way through the traffic,
find a place to park, then walk three blocks to the repair centre, where you will be told
to ring in two or three days to see if it's ready. When eventually it is ready, you have
to go through the whole process in reverse to get it back!!!
At
HELP@HAND® we do things
very differently. We call to YOU, at a time that suits YOU. Most calls received before
midday, are dealt with on the same day ...failing that, the following day. So, no wondering how long it will take to get your computer back. As well as that, 95% of all calls
can be sorted out in your home, you only pay for the time you know was actually spent working
on your computer.
EIRCOM's Router Vulnerability:
The Vulnerability in Eircom's (Netopia) Routers stems from the fact that the
WEP (Security Key) is generated using the Wireless Networks own name.
If you have an Eircom router that you connect to Wirelessly, you will have
seen the name of your Network (SSID). It looks something like:
EIRCOM 1234 567
This name is unique to your Router. Each Router has been programmed with a
different name, the numbers vary. The problem has arisen because Eircom have
used this name to generate the encryption key, Meaning that if anyone has a
Netopia Router, they can enter your Networks name (SSID) and your Encryption
key will come up
If you don't have your encryption turned on, then anyone within a possible
100 meters can access your Broadband connection.
Why would anyone want to???
Usually for one of two reasons, either they simply don't want to pay for
Broadband and if yours is unprotected, they don't have to. The other
possible reason is so as they can download illegal material from the
Internet, with very little chance of getting caught. The problem for you is,
if they are using your Network, who is going to be investigated? You are.
Secure your Wireless Network. Even if you are using a cable
from your router to your PC, the Wireless broadcasting is still turned on.
Most Routers come with Wireless, built in. On the majority, the Wireless is
ENABLED.
If you need any help, we are here to look after your needs.
