Data transfer is a process where information is transferred from one computer to another. Say for example you have just bought a new computer and want to move your files from the old machine on to the new one. A couple of years ago, you could have done it easily with a few floppy disks and 20 minutes of your spare time. Nowadays, files have got larger, when you take into account Music collections, Digital Photographs, Videos etc. it's not surprising that the amount of data to be transferred can run into gigabytes. Suddenly your floppy disks don't look so attractive.
